I drive along a dark boulevard
Staring at abandoned cars and
Vacant stores that I used to know
The streetlight is on its final glow
Oh, somber sky
Shield me from the night
Shopping carts piled by overpasses
The greatest empires never lasted
But, love and light are eternal
Cleansing the land infernal
Oh, somber sky
Let the sun shine through
A child’s tear can steer us clear
No need to run and hide in fear—
The hills turn green every year:
Sublime rainbow streaks the sky
Oh, still sky
Give me a brief respite.
