Sandstorm

by Kris Patel

If your burden is heavy, set it down

Rest for a bit under a tree, breathe

Gentle breeze or storm, it will pass

Life is Yin & Yang – flux and fleeting

Gather loved ones – skip the meeting—

Family, friends, the people who last

The dogs and plants too, love replete

Everything is joined together: Harmony

To wish things were different is misery

Living too quickly—we drown beneath

Descending into the deep, blue, silent sea

Do not resist the enveloping pressure—

Embrace the course of the natural cycle

The screens and videos have blinded;

Stripped our values: a swift sandstorm,

Eroding the thin façades of our homes –

Melting memories like mounds of snow.
